Students...

Well last week the SPM and STPM results were out. Some of students feel happy with their results some of them might not think so. All the hard work is given out just because they wanted to get the good results to be shown in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia( SPM )and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia(STPM )results slip.
I noticed that the trend of taking more papers than required for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination is getting seriously. This trens started only following the introduction of the open certificate in 2000. Personally I don’t get any point why students have to take more subjects.
The school authorities said Science students could take Arts papers. It means that students are compulsory to take 12 papers required for Science stream students and these students can take additional Arts subjects if they like. However students have to pay themselves the exam fees for the extra subjects.
Some of them think that taking additional subjects was just a matter of interest. Science stream students may be wanted to take Accounts in case their wanted to do it as a career. But it must be hard for students to balance between studying and living.Taking more subjects seemed like students are trying to commit suicide. Students are taking the risk. It is pretty hard for students to manage their time well. Besides this students take more subjects simply because about their ‘kiasu’ attitude. Students nowadays are just blindly following the trend for taking more subjects. This is simple to show that students are ‘kiasu’. They may just want to prove they can do it, some may just want to see how they fare and some simply just want to test themselves.
Well I think that we should not just look at the results. What is important is for the children to learn life skills.Life students just know to study but don't have life skills is just like we are eating burger without fries.

thinking back when it was our time taking SPM, is like 4 years ago, 12 subjects is like the maximun for us, even for me taking 10 subjects is stress enough... just couldn't imagine and understand how students nowadays can take up to 19 subjects, scoring A1 and A2, but still not be satisfied & be proud with their result... what is the point of getting all A actually, besides proving that they are smart? is that what they study and learn all about in the 5 years of school-time, just for an A?? i'm wondering...
students should be glad on whatever the results that they score, as long as they have tried their best in it... they shouldn't have the thought of being "kaisu" or thinking of committed suicide just because they think they are not smart enough compare to other students. if were to compare, nobody can ever achieved the best and is no point to compare with others, the most important things is you yourself learn something and grow on it!
